MSPs unanimously passed Scotland’s ‘historic’ Islands Bill after its stage three debate on Wednesday May 20.
Welcoming the vote, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar convener Norman A MacDonald said:The Bill is an opportunity to embed the principles that one size does not fit all.
‘Given the fragile nature of ourThislands’ economies, the challenges of population retention and growth, and other financial and resource issues which impact disproportionately onThislands, we believe that the Bill provides an opportunity for islands to help themselves by allowing the development of bespoke solutions on governance at the earliest opportunity.’
