Children’s author MG Leonard tells Lynne Hackles how she juggles writing around book events and being a busy mum


‘MG Leonard is the Branford Boase Awardwinning author of Beetle Boy, the breakout children’s debut novel of 2016. What would a good writing day be like for her?

‘An ideal writing day would start with a couple of hours writing a first draft in the morning, a break for lunch and then editing something different in the afternoon, with an hour or so for admin,’ she says. ‘However, I rarely get to have this day because of the amount of travelling, promotion and events I deliver. Last year I did over 100 days of events in five countries, and days either side were often spent travelling.
