Remember Skully, the cheeky helmet upstarts offering its fancy new AR-1 lid (the AR stood for Augmented Reality as it featured a rear view camera and a Heads-Up display). If not, it’s probably best that you don’t dredge your memory, because the firm has gone belly up without turning the crash helmet industry on it, er, head. The firm had raised a fair chunk of capital, got 3,000 orders in and had 50 employees, but all that has gone down the plughole on news of the firm’s demise. It’s unlikely that anyone who pre-ordered the $1,499 helmet will see any of their money back. The company could yet be bought, its technology utilised and the AR-1 released under a different brand. Or it might not. We’ll see.
