There are often those moments in life where things don’t go your way, and that happens... but every now and again you get one of those days, weekends or weeks where so much goes wrong that you actually start to question just how bad the things were you did in a previous life to get such a run of, basically, shite.
Now, for some context, nothing actually ‘bad’ happened. No world war started, no great economic meltdown ensued. Even on a personal level there were no injuries and no major issues but it was still a hellish weekend... so cast your minds back to round three of the BSB season and enjoy the tale of ‘fun’ I endured.
As it happens, Donington (host of round 3) is probably my favourite circuit of the year so I was excited at the prospect of being at a track that has served me well in the past and to keep our building process with team and bike. Even before we arrived I had a good feeling and I could almost taste the podium juice before we started. However, from the very first lap of FP1, my nightmare weekend began. Not even a full lap into the weekend, the bike decided to switch itself off for no reason! We’d had the issue before and were convinced the issue was in hand, but apparently not as after a few more laps of trying and the bike shutting down at least once a lap I came back into the pits to try and resolve the problem.
