There’s something comforting about dirt. Ironically, I spent most of 2016 rolling around in the stuff, but that’s a different story. At this time of year, when the weather’s minging, I’m always out on a ’crosser – and I don’t mean one of the transgender variety.
I cut my teeth in motocross and it’s almost impossible for me to pass off the opportunity to get out and razz around the local tracks with my mates every weekend. It’s knackering, you get battered and never make it home without a few additional bruises, but that’s all part of the fun. I’ve been racing off-road since I was 12 years old, I’ve bagged a few championships and had my fair share of wins over the years. It’s the discipline that comes most naturally to me. Road racing’s taken a bit more learning.
