BEN DOAK
MIDDLESBROUGH POSITION WINGER AGE 19
Education is key to a fledgling football career. Ben Doak, dazzling on loan at Middlesbrough this season, can vouch for that.
After rising through Celtic’s feted academy, the Scot moved to Liverpool in the summer of 2022, and it wasn’t long before he got opportunities in Jurgen Klopp’s first team. The German handed Doak 10 senior appearances, including in the Premier League, where he made his debut away to Aston Villa in December 2022 as a 17-year-old. “He’s a special boy,” said Klopp of the winger in 2023. “He’s really confident. He has something nobody else delivers: this kind of dribbling, this kind of bravery – all these kinds of things.” Equally enamoured, his senior colleagues affectionately branded Doak a ‘Tasmanian Devil’ due to his pace, energy and work rate.
