GREAT NORTH RUN
If races were like a fish and chip supper, and you had to choose the one that gave you the greatest feeling of being full, it would have to be the Great North Run. The UK’s most famous half marathon, and the big brother to the Great South Run, held in Portsmouth, this is a go-to race that you have to complete if you really love running. We’re not surprised it’s won this category, as it offers so much; entertainment en route and hundreds of thousands of spectators to cheer you on. And it’s slightly downhill. Winner. The race went ahead this year as a virtual event, and next year is its 40th birthday, so we look forward to being part of this incredible race again – there is no half marathon in the world like it.
