News from Central Office Chamonix Ski Trip 2025
This was the fourth year RMA The Royal Marines Charity has run this trip, the first being in 2022 just after Covid and travel to France reopened. It marked the beginning of this sought after and eagerly anticipated adventure therapy trip for Royal Marines of all ages and backgrounds.
In 2019, Jim Morris MBE, Transition Support Officer (South and Wales) and RMA Support Volunteer Manager, was asked to find five potential former Royal Marines who had been through the recovery pathway to attend a pilot trip to Chamonix. This followed a generous offer from former Army Warrant Officer Dan White, the owner of a beautiful converted barn dating back to Napoleonic times. Dan graciously allowed us to use the barn for free. Five Bootnecks went on the trip and reported back that it was amazing and asked if they could go again. Ian ‘Bish’ Bishop was one of the five and offered to take on the responsibility for flights, ski hire, ski passes, feeding and transport to and from airports and ski slopes a responsibility he has carried out brilliantly since.
