Assorted Love Letters
-JACK KLINE, BRENTWOOD , CALIFORNIA
I’m about six months behind on my reading of Guitar Player, but when the July issue arrived, I immediately jumped on that and the great story about the making of Layla & Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek and the Dominoes. All the backstory that led to the band coming together was greatly appreciated. I consider that album to be one of the best ever by anyone. I’ve read Clapton’s autobiography and books about the Allman Brothers, and this feature added more depth to the history of how Duane Allman came to participate in the making of Layla. I ate it all up! And not to mention the fine features on Joe Bonamassa, Robby Krieger and on and on.
