Comfort food in a bowl – just what the doctor ordered!
An Asian cookery staple, tofu is brimming with iron and calcium, as well as protein
I actually quite like the post- Christmas part of winter, though I know most of the country will probably disagree. It’s cosy and uneventful, and brings us just a little bit closer to spring. That said, I do need food that will keep me cheerful on damp or gloomy days, and these recipes are the ones that I turn to. The noodle soup can be made as fiery as you need, as can the curry, while the sesame slaw is a welcome change to all the slow-cooked rich food of the last couple of months.
SPICY BRAISED TOFU AND NOODLE SOUP
This manages to be soothing, warming, fresh and zingy all at the same time. It’s quick to make and packed with goodness from the tofu and barely cooked veg, while the spices, garlic, citrus and ginger should help keep any wintry bugs at bay.
