Clean Eating’ Alice Liveing is an Instagram star – but is she as healthy in real life? Nutritionist Dr Carrie Ruxton finds out

‘A slice of rye toast with butter, two or three scrambled eggs and a sprinkling of parmesan. At weekends, I’ll make something that takes a little more time, like pancakes, French toast, or a fry-up with bacon, eggs and avocado.’
Carrie says: ‘Alice needs calories, especially from protein, to support her impressive workout routine. Eggs are a great protein source as they contain all the amino acids (protein building blocks) we need. They are also a source of B vitamins, for energy release, and vitamin D, for immune function. Rye is high in fibre and avocado contains omega-3 fats, for brain and heart health. Weekend treats are fine as Alice does so much exercise.’
