Go organic this September
Led by the Soil Association, Organic September is an annual campaign that encourages us to think more carefully about where our food comes from. By shopping organic, we can be sure that our food has been farmed without the use of synthetic fertilisers or pesticides – and it sounds like many of us have been doing it already. Data collected over the first 10 weeks of lockdown and the two weeks leading up to it revealed that sales of organic food and drink were up by 18.7%. If you want to boost your credentials for Organic September, you could try growing your own organic veggies at home (learn how to make the most of your garden, page 108). And navigate the modern minefield of food provenance with our guide to ethical eating, page 72.
