Its low-calorie status has made it a staple food in weight-loss plans for years, but you don’t have to whizz celery up into green juice (not everyone’s cup of tea) to reap its nutritional benefits. Part of the Apiaceae family, celery is a relative of carrots, parsnips, parsley and celeriac, and it grows predominantly in wet places across the northern hemisphere. It’s instantly recognisable for its long, green-white stems, topped with delicate green leaves.
