‘I don’t feel like I’m ten years in. I feel I’m just starting’
It has been a decade since Molly Rainford was dubbed “a little Mariah Carey” by Alesha Dixon on Britain’s Got Talent, and since then the singer has continued to make her mark on the music world.
“It still doesn’t feel real,” says the 21-year-old Essex-born rising star, who made it to the final of the talent show in 2012 and was also praised by Simon Cowell, who called her voice “stunning”.
“It was just such a whirlwind and such an amazing thing that when I look back at it, I’m like: ‘Did I really do that at 11? Wow.’ I don’t feel like I’m ten years in. I feel I’m just starting.”
Now, Molly, who lives with her parents, is not only fulfilling her dream of being a pop star – with two successful EPs to her name – but is going galactic, playing a space-travelling music superstar on CBBC’s Nova Jones – the largest children’s TV show of last year.
