COBBLERS COVE, BARBADOS
THE STAY: With its calamine facade and sweeping lawns abutted by jungly foliage, Cobblers Cove is one of the most sought-after addresses in Barbados. Its many lounging spaces are joyous: think bamboo-framed mirrors, age-speckled maps of the West Indies and lovely fabrics by Lulu Lytle of Soane Britain. Ginger lilies punctuate the dew-drenched gardens, sending their heady fragrance into the sticky air. Down on the devastatingly chic sun deck, candy-striped parasols shade ornate iron loungers topped with sink-in cushions. You’ll glimpse chirruping bananaquits flitting between the fronds and perhaps a crab or two hurrying into the rocks. Fidgety types can grab a bottle of ice-cold Banks beer and head for a waves-at-your-feet wander along the shoreline, or enjoy an exhilarating coastal whoosh in the hotel’s powder-pink speedboat, admiring colourful Speightstown on the way.
