Whether your hacks are spent exploring the countryside or negotiating narrow lanes, good quality high-vis is a must-have for yours and your horse’s wardrobes. While you ought to don some bright colours all year with bad weather closing in, now’s the time to update your kit and make sure you have everything you need every time you hit the road.
DID YOU KNOW?
The British Horse Society (BHS) recommends that you wear LED lights where you can – ideally placed to highlight the width of your horse.
High standards
Just like your helmet and body protector, your chosen high-vis should also meet a set of standards to ensure it does what it says on the tin. Look for BSI approved standard EN1150 for clothing, or EN13356 for accessories such as detachable belts, arm or hat bands, gloves and chaps. In order to meet the requirements, the item will need a combination of fluorescent and reflective material, and will have been tested in all weathers at different times of day.
