Jump to it
Looking for the perfect warm-up for jumping? Before you start your session, set yourself up for success with these easy and effective exercises
The quality of your warm-up can easily dictate whether a schooling session’s a roaring success or goes completely awry. When it comes to jumping, not only are you preparing your horse’s muscles for the job, you should be aiming to build his confidence, too. Knowing what works for him is key, and building up the fences gradually will help you both feel happy and confident – whether you’re training at home, having a lesson or attending a clinic somewhere new.
Power up
Before you jump a course or tackle larger fences, heading through a line of low bounces can be just what you need to give your horse a bit of extra oomph. Bounces will help engage his hindquarters and power up his gait, helping you achieve the springy, powerful canter of dreams.
