If you think you look rough in the morning, snowy egret chicks are probably having a worse hair day. Mouth wide open, this menacing-looking ball of fluff is up early in a small nest in the Great South Bay, Long Island, awaiting either of its parents to deliver one of its many meals. When they arrive, mum or dad will serve up a menu of small fish and crustaceans from nearby waterways such as tidal channels, salt marsh pools and lakes.
