Find anything with Finder
Build complex search queries to locate the files you need using Finder’s advanced features
There is more than one way to find files on the Mac and Spotlight is an obvious tool, but it is more of a general search that includes Wikipedia entries, web video and so on. A few files are found, but it is far from comprehensive. Siri is a bit better at finding files, but you may be in a place where you don’t want to be heard talking to your computer.
Finder’s search facilities are still the best and it is possible to build some very complex search functions to track down the files you need. There is a lot more to searching than simply typing a word or two into Finder’s search box and here we take a look at some of the more advanced search features.
