78 AMAZING iOS 16 SECRETS

New tips & tricks to power up your iPhone!

Good news, the big iOS 16 update will be available to download any day now, and to help you hit the ground running with all of the key new features and settings, we have wrung the update dry to bring you 78 top tips for mastering iOS 16. Beyond the marquee features that we showcased in the Apple WWDC keynote (which we also get you acquainted with here), we have drilled down deep into the core of iOS 16 to uncover a wealth of other hidden gems that are well worth exploiting. These include many new additions to existing apps and settings you wouldn’t necessarily know about, yet could improve the functionality of your device and how you interact with it.

As ever with a new update, look out for the red ‘!’ icon to appear on your Settings app icon, then go to Settings>General>Software Update to allow your device to scan for the new update. After which you just need to tap ‘Download and Install’.

What’s new in Mail?

You can now schedule emails and even unsend emails that you have just sent out.

01 Set email response reminders

If you have an email that you need to respond to, but you can’t do so currently, swipe right on the email in your inbox and tap on the new ‘Later’ option. You will then be able to set yourself a reminder to come back to the email.

02 Schedule your emails

After composing an email, you may not want to send it immediately. Long-press on the Send button to bring up a menu of scheduling options. These include ‘Send Now’, ‘Send 9:00 Tonight’ and ‘Send Later’ – which lets you schedule an exact time and date to send the email.

03 Unsend an email

In iOS 16, if you send an email and then instantly regret it, you can retract it, if you’re quick. When you return to your inbox after sending an email you will see the ‘Undo Send’ option at the bottom. Tap this to cancel the send.

04 Increase ‘unsend’ time limit

If you want to unsend an email then you have to act quickly. However, you can give yourself a little more time by going to Settings>Mail, tapping ‘Undo Send Delay’ and then changing it to a maximum of 30 seconds.

Secret features in iOS 16 that are really easy to miss…

05 Merge contacts

If you have multiple cards for the same person in Contacts, you can merge them. Scroll down to see duplicates flagged up, then tap on it and choose ‘Merge All’.

06 Landscape Face ID

A small, but definitely welcome, addition to iOS 16 is Face ID support in landscape mode. This means you will be able to unlock your iPhone in any orientation.

07 Haptic keyboard

Go to Settings>Sounds & Haptics to find the new ‘Keyboard Feedback’ option that, when enabled, lets you feel vibrations for every key tap.

08 See Wi-Fi passwords

If you go to Settings>Wi-Fi and tap on your current network you will see the password blanked out. However, if you tap on it you can now view it in iOS 16.

09 Pin Safari tabs

Like on Mac, you can now pin tabs to the tab screen in Safari so that they will always be there for easy access (and won’t autoclose after a period of time. Press and hold on a tab on the tab screen and choose ‘Pin Tab’ to complete the action.

10 Use Quick Notes

You can now use Quick Notes on the iPhone, which can be done in any app through the Share menu. For example, in Safari, tap the Share icon, scroll down to the ‘Add to Quick Notes’ option and tap it. A link to the current page will be added to a new note.
