It sounds crazy but I’ve only just ‘discovered’ your fantastic magazine, Infinity. I’m a Mad Max fan, and someone posted about your latest issue on Facebook (on one of the Mad Max groups) - so I asked a customer in the UK to pick up Infinity #46 from the newsagent there and post it to me - we did a swap, for the latest issue of my own comic that he collects (it turns out he also buys Infinity all the time too). So he sent me issue #46 and it arrived last week. I loved the Mad Max article, and the magazine as a whole is exactly my sort of mag - the style of writing, lots of pictures, great fun, a mix of old and new (I love Ray Harryhausen’s stop-motion clay-animation) etc -Ilove the colour, the nostalgia (and the current info), the news and information of your magazine, etc. I also dropped in to my local comic book store, Gamma Rays Comics here in Adelaide, and it turns out that he gets Infinity too. I actually bought a copy of Fangoria from him the other week - because Diamond made a mistake and sent him too many copies so he had them going out cheap - and I was very disappointed with it - the format, the writing in the articles, lots of text but very few images, I just couldn’t get into it (it’s not the Fangoria of old that I remember). But he told me he gets Infinity and he had some on the shelf, so I’ve just bought issues 42 to 45 -I’ve got some catching up to do, ha ha. Ian (the owner at Gamma Rays) is also another fan of Infinity, and both he and the customer in the UK told me to check out The Dark Side too - so I now have issues 224 to 226 of that to read here too.
Who am I? My name is Darren Koziol, and I run Dark Oz - asmall independent publisher in Adelaide, South Australia. I’ve been producing comic book anthologies for over ten years, featuring over 200 creators. I started with Decay, a horror comic like Creepy or Eerie, but perhaps more inspired by later comics like ‘Heavy Metal’ and ‘Toxic!’ (from the UK). Decay went for 24 issues but has stopped for now, while my other main title Retro Sci-Fi Tales is still going - the 10th issue has just been released. This is more like 2000AD and Heavy Metal.
