Dear Allan,
I had to write to thank you for the Time Tunnel Gold Key comic cover poster in issue 53. It was fantastic and reminded me of the Star Trek, Twilight Zone and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea comics I infrequently found in my local newsagents in the late sixties and early seventies.
My main exposure to the Star Trek stories came from the annuals I usually received every Xmas from my mum and dad; unfortunately they did not include the fabulous painted covers of the original comics. I’d love to see more examples of these Gold Key covers in your mag. How about it? Hoping you will eventually present a feature on the classic BBC Robinson Crusoe series as I watch it every summer religiously. Sorry to be so demanding but surely its time for a Double Deckers article as well. Tinkity tonk and down with the Nazis. Dave Chambers, Ashby Parva, Leicestershire We love finding excuses to print those old comic covers Dave, they really touch that nostalgia button, don’t they? Robinson Crusoe and Double Deckers are perfect subjects for us and I’m sure we will get around to tackling them both soon, especially now that I, and a good percentage of Infinity readers of a certain age, will be going around humming their theme tunes for the rest of the day!
Dear Allan,
I wanted to thank Tony Earnshaw for his entertaining article Soldiers of Fortune, about the making of the 1978 film The Wild Geese. My late father (being an ex-national serviceman himself) always enjoyed watching it, as it had some resonance to him and contained actors he actually liked. This brings me on to ask if Tony would be willing to write an article for a future issue on its slightly silly but nonetheless interesting 1985 loose sequel imaginatively titled, ...er... Wild Geese II? It’s a film I’m sure you have seen but probably long forgotten about, starring none of the original cast (Richard Burton was supposed to return but died a couple of weeks before shooting was supposed to start).
