Things need to get much worse before they get better
WELL, LADS and lasses, just call me Cassandra! In my last column, I predicted that May would have held her ‘meaningful vote’, the SNP would be doing the job of the official government opposition, and the EU will have no choice but to conclude that the UK Government isn’t performing an elaborate double-bluff of diplomatic genius.
Okay, the dogs in the street knew this would happen. I can’t claim any kind of clairvoyance, merely the certainty that comes from following this shower in Westminster. I’d love to claim to have started 2019 thoroughly upbeat but sadly my main feeling when contemplating the year is one of deep foreboding. Things need to get much worse before they get better, and we’re going to need to look after each other more than usual.
