Book-ends
WELL, it’s been a weird month for a variety of reasons. Heatwaves, midgies, floods, midgiesqand did I mention midgies?.
However, these incidents have been offset by loads of nice things happening. My Blaze-trails walks got up and running and we’ve had our 1st bookings and a few grand outings doing that with trips up to Ben Tianavaig, Fairy Glen, Loch Shianta and of course, the ‘secret beach’ A really scary ‘booking’ though, was putting the Blazemobile into the car vet for it’s yearly check-up, but luckily, apart from a blown light bulb and a bitty fuel hose needing to be replaced, all went well with that.
Not that I mind walking everywhere of course, but Dads auld legs need a rest every now and again.
In between midgie swarms and torrential rains, we have also been working away at getting my stealth camper completed. Dad says our very first maiden voyage in it should be up to Ullapool, a place none of us have been although we’ve passed it many a time on our way to climb Munros.
It will also allow us to go visit the Bone Caves, which again, we’ve walked past en route to climbing Beinn Dearg. With regards to the flash floods, we must admit, there was a flurry of panic involved as we eyed the burn which is only five foot away from the window was steadily rising.
