Autism Parenting

Issue 192 June may be a month when life slows down a bit, but for families with autism, the hectic pace continues. Our theme this month is Adulting with Autism: Creating a Path to Success. As I picture the walking paths in the park near my home, I can see how they veer off in different directions. Your child may be on a path, steadily working to maintain their momentum at work or in daily independent living. Others may be jogging along to keep up with the pace of sending resumes and interviewing, as they strive for a new job. You and your older teen may need a map to find your way as you help them decide whether to take a job after high school or attend some type of schooling, such as trade, vocational, or college. We hope this month’s articles act as that guide to help you and your family take a deep breath, learn some new strategies, and find the right path. Then, maybe you can seek out a shady spot in your local park and rest. Or, venture down one of the walking trails and see where the road may lead. Happy reading! What else can you expect? Asking for Help At School Teaching Calming Breaths Crafting a Successful Work Plan Understanding Food Aversions What Is My Child Trying to Say? Plus many more articles…
