Getting your project ready for MVHR
Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) is rightly gaining popularity in the UK as a controlled, reliable and energy efficient way to maintain good indoor air quality and protect our homes from condensation and mould. MVHR works by extracting warm air – often stale and humid – from the kitchen, bathrooms and other damp areas, and passing it over a heat exchanger. This transfers the warmth to fresh air from outside, which is then filtered back into the building. So, you keep the cosy indoor temperature, but lose the impurities in the air. Although the technology is simple enough, there are some important design principles to consider to make sure your MVHR system works so quietly and efficiently that you don’t even notice it.
