Providing plots with planning consent to develop new homes is one of the two major elements that comprise the Right to Build legislation. Visit www.righttobuildportal.org for more information about your local register
How does the task force intend to address the barriers to self and custom build and help local authorities roll out more plots/projects?
The government’s Right to Build scheme was created to expand the sector, and one of the biggest obstacles it currently faces is that people aren’t necessarily aware that self or custom build might be a suitable option for them. One of the main aims of the National Custom & Self Build Association (NaCSBA) task force is to help support the Right to Build by really getting the word out there. Consumer awareness is the key to boosting 10,000 self build completions per year to 20,000, 30,000 or more, and magazines like Build It are helping to deliver that message.
