Updating your heating system with a more efficient setup will increase your property’s eco rating by reducing wasted energy. But how do you know if it’s time for your central heating to be upgraded? “The age of the arrangement you have in place is a good guide,” says Alexa Kasim, technical director at Clear Architects. “If it’s between 10 and 15 years old, it’s worth considering an upgrade. If you get an EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) survey carried out, this will give you advice on whether a new boiler or radiators should be installed, as well as pointers about other aspects of the property that could be enhanced.”
