Growing up with horses and dogs and all kinds of animals, I knew one day I wanted chickens. As my three daughters got a bit older, it was only natural to add a few chickens to our brood of children and pair of Bernese Mountain Dogs.
Creating a place to connect with nature is my No. 1 priority for my children. Connecting with nature and caring for animals teaches so much, including responsibility and empathy. Living just outside of New York City, it’s important we have a place to unwind and connect back to everything that nature has to offer. We have bountiful gardens that grow all of our vegetables in the summer, so adding chickens was just the next obvious step.
