Back after singer Kieran Shudell’s emergency heart surgery, his band return to the early energy that made T-Shirt Weather an indie club favourite. The infectious Le Bateau similarly has a chorus built for the ages, while Like You Did Before has a new angular intensity. A move into a more emotive, panoramic sound is less surefooted, too similar to any number of guitar bands on Everything Changed’s balladry. Only lasting nine songs feels skimpy when there’s the occasional filler. But there’s enough insistent choruses to merit their tours reaching ever-bigger venues.
