We get it. Yearly iPhone launches can be quite underwhelming, can’t they? Certainly without looking at the finer details. This time though, Apple has well and truly upset the, well, apple cart and announced a whole slew of new phones, including the intriguing new iPhone Air (which we’ll test next issue), alongside revisions of its standard, Pro and Pro Max lines. Yet perhaps surprisingly, it’s the standard and cheapestl iPhone 17 model that’s garnered the most interest – and it’s what we’re reviewing here.
Upgrades and refinements have taken what was great about the iPhone 16 and made it even better
On the surface, it looks exactly like you’d expect it to. The subtle aluminium styling, the camera bump on the back, the floating island notch on the display, the button placement – it’s all still the same, all of it a tried and tested design that Apple has been touting on its cheapest phones for the last six generations. There’s a familiarity in it, a comfort that’s hard to dismiss.
