HALion owners rejoice, because among the slew of free releases at the end of last year, Steinberg’s Lo-fi piano for HALion stands out as one of the best. Firstly, Steinberg don’t do rubbish freebies and secondly, we liked the lo-fi picture that comes with it (although the GUI on the instrument itself is rather less grand — “functional”, shall we say). You’ll need a copy of HALion to run it, which means either the excellent £300 HALion 6, or the free HALion Sonic SE.
