This year’s update to iZotope’s industry standard audio cleanup and restoration suite sees the addition of several new processing modules, and a raft of improvements to existing features. The Spectral Recovery module claims to be able to turn “bandwidth-limited audio into clear, articulate recordings” by restoring frequencies above 4kHz, while Wow & Flutter sorts out the pitch fluctuations that are part and parcel of tape and vinyl transfer. Guitar De-noise is all about fixing amplifier hum, string squeaks, etc; and taking RX into mastering territory, Loudness Control helps you hit industry standard loudness targets. As well as that, up to 32 files can now be opened at once, and horizontal trackpad/mouse scrolling is supported by the spectrogram for “lightning fast edits”.
As ever, which of RX8’s new goodies you get depends on which version - Elements ($129), Standard ($399) or Advanced ($1199) - you plump for.
