Welcome to Australia, Jack. Now get these speedos on so some lucky prick can peel them off!

I “ll never forget my first pair of speedos. Midnight blue with an anchor emblem across the front in white. Tight but not constricting. Shiny in the right light and smooth to touch. Perfect fit. My cock bulging like a dream. My arse more than fuckable. It helped that I was 23 and not long out of a difficult break-up, and opting for a trip to Dr Dumbbell in the evening rather than staring at dirty marks on the wall where framed memories once hung.

Their cheek-cupping, crotch-hugging aesthetic, however, is not the sole reason I remember my first budgie smugglers so vividly. It was how they made me feel.

Like new.

One hell of a claim; that something so small could have such a big impact on my life.

Donning that tiny piece of fabric, synonymous with sun, sand and sea, was a moment in my memory that won”t ever shift.

Just like having the balls to finally put a gay mag on the shop counter or hold a boy”s hand in public or buy a butt plug or march in a pride parade, pulling up my first pair of speedos was a step forward in my evolution.

About DNA Magazine

DNA #227 Welcome to the Swimwear issue for the Summer of 2018/19. We’ve called it Freedom – because that’s what summer means to us, and because this season swimwear brands have thrown out the rule book and gone a bit crazy with their ranges. Good crazy! So, DNA sent our hot cover model Benji Condie and the team to the beach to capture 10 brilliant, sexy, wet pages of summer swimwear styles. And, just like summer, this issue of DNA is all sexed-up! In our regular column, Your Best Sex Move, we teach the finer points of topping! Our Raunchy Read (Speedo Revelation) will satisfy anyone with a swimwear fetish. And adult star Skyy Knox gets cool, classy and naked for Vincent Chine’s camera. We celebrate the 10th anniversary of iconic Aussie label, Teamm8 with a look back at some of their highlights – cue more hot guys in swimwear, underwear and sports gear! Reality dating just took an LGBTIQ turn with Brooklyn and Esteban finding each other on Blind Date – we catch up with the loved-up couple. Meanwhile, Courtney Act hosts The Bi Life on UK TV, bringing swinging boys and girls together. Ahhh! For pop culture lovers, we head to the theatre to see the stage versions of the lives of Cher, Donna Summer and Tina Turner, and we find out what electronica/pop genius John Grant has been up to – quite a lot actually! And we interview adult star Cade Maddox with some deep (and not so deep) questions. Getting serious, we continue our series examining addictions – this month, sex addiction and process addiction (something tons of gay men don’t even know they have). Plus, we discuss the publication of the HIV Book Project, which recounts the lives of many diverse people living with HIV. Plus, there’s all your favourite regulars and reviews.
