The War Master: Anti-Genesis

Fresh from its victory in Doctor W ho M agazine’s latest W orld Cup tournam ent, the 1975 serial Genesis of the Daleks is about to be revisited by Big Finish, but not as we know it. Anti-Genesis is a story of tim e being rew ritten, in which the villainous M aster distorts established Dalek history in a terrifying new direction.

W hich, given the popularity of the original story, could have been a risk for writers Nicholas Briggs and Alan Barnes. “I didn’t have enough tim e to stop and think about it being risky”, says Nick, who’s behind the rst and last of the four new episodes. “Ridiculously, because Genesis of the Daleks has been in m y m ind since I was about 14 years old, I feel an unreasonable am ount of ow nership for it. That’s what we Doctor W ho fans do. W e are in love withthese stories, and we kind of think we ow n them because we know them inside out. It’s not fair or reasonable, but it’s what happens.
