JAMIE LEE CURTIS
Hello, Jamie. How are you?
Hi! I’m very well. I’m filming the last in the trilogy of the Halloween movies and we’re on night shoots, so I’m assuming it’s Sunday.
Where are you right now?
Savannah, Georgia. In a lovely, perfectly comfortable hotel, drinking maybe my third coffee.
You’re on to a good start. Do you tend to surrender to the roles you’re playing?
You have to. It’s like jazz. All of a sudden you’re doing a whole other scene to what was really written, and you just know your part.
What’s your read on people?
People are actually quite wonderful, and creative people are spectacular, but there can be some complete cunts in the world. I say that with a little ‘c’. Or maybe with a ‘k’, and then everybody won’t, like, cancel me.
You star with Michelle Yeoh in Everything Everywhere All At Once. Was she why you came on board?
I think her magical blend of exquisite beauty — and I mean fucking cray cray beauty — and her fucking whip talent as a martial artist are just thrilling to watch. They say, “They had me at hello.” Well, they had me at Michelle Yeoh.
