Flora Spring 2020; Thank goodness for spring - the lighter evenings, the new growth and the hope that warmer days are not too far away.
This spring issue is full of designs with bulb flowers that
are colourful, inexpensive and beautiful. We have a feature
on easy designs with daffodils and our usual
step by steps throughout the magazine.
Floral Robotics is a title to conjure with! Turn to page 64
and see what is happening in the USA. Do you think this is
going to take on in the next few years? It will be interesting to
see. Personally, I feel that nothing can take away from the skill
of our florists.
A few years ago I went to an exhibition of Grayson Perry’s work at the Serpentine Gallery. I knew little about his work and was rather a sceptic. I returned an enthusiast. When I saw that the Surrey Area of NAFAS had created a class asking for interpretations of his work I had to know more. Andrew Taylor, a regular writer for Flora, was just the man
to write about the joint venture. The designs were brilliant and stirred a lot of interest inboth floral art and contemporary design.
Capturing a moment in time is how Huyla Kusat describes her tiny indoor landscapes. We all love a world in miniature. I remember visiting Babbacombe Model Village and being thrilled at its complexity. Our miniature landscapes may not be on the same scale but they
are something we can all do at home.
