In this new issue of GT Porsche we experience one of the most extreme Porsche road cars we have driven for some time. It looks, for all those without an encyclopaedic knowledge of the 996, to be a GT3 RS variant that sits a little lower than normal. But this month’s cover car is so much more than that. We’ve driven 996 GT3 Cup cars and we don’t think they are as extreme as this!
Similarly focussed, but with a nod to more practical use is the Boxster CSR created by specialists RPM Technik. Not only does it make a great fast road car but it punches well above its (light)weight on track too, as Richard Meaden discovered. In the November issue Andrew Frankel continues his The Turbo Files series, this month getting behind the wheel of the 997 Turbo, quite possibly the most complete 911 Turbo Porsche has built.
Certainly one of Porsche’s most complete race cars was the 962. From an era in Group C when Porsche was so dominant the competition kept calling for rule changes, Porsche’s 962 and 962C kept on winning.
