The lumps and bumps that plague female bottoms, hips and thighs can be a source of body hang-ups. The term ‘cellulite’ was coined by French doctors 150 years ago – and we’ve been worrying about it ever since.
One thing’s for sure: when it comes to cellulite, you’re definitely not alone. According to the latest figures from market research company Mintel, one in five UK women try a slimming cream every year, and fighting cellulite with these lotions and other treatments tots up a staggering £30 million a year.
It’s somewhat reassuring that celebrities, including supermodel Cindy Crawford and reality star Kim Kardashian, have admitted to battling their own dimpled skin. Actress Sandra Bullock said, ‘We all have cellulite – I do and so do supermodels. It’s nature. Without it, you’re not human.’
