iDrum magazine: Never miss a beat  |  January 2015
Welcome to iDrum’s January issue! Not enjoying those dark mornings and early evenings? Don’t worry, we’ve got plenty here to keep you enthusiastic about all your drumming New Year’s resolutions!
Tony Royster Jr is our cover star, and he speaks to Joel McIver fresh from headlining the London Drum Show. We also finally managed to get hold of Royal Blood’s Ben Thatcher. He’s been relentlessly touring the band’s number one album so we were thrilled to catch up with him and hear about the duo’s huge sound. Mark Pusey is another busy guy – he’s promoting Ed Sheeran’s second studio album at the moment – but he still found time to talk to us. Debbie Knox-Hewson landed the Charli XCX gig a year ago and talks about triggers, touring and making time for practice. Carlos Hercules, drummer for George Michael, Annie Lennox, Beverley Knight and many more, gives wise words on maintaining the artist/musician business relationship.
We have reports from the EFG London Jazz Festival and the Zildjian Day 2014, the final part of our Cruise Ship Drumming feature, The Big 10 with Steve Anderson (Kylie’s MD and arranger of choice), Caught Live with Mike Portnoy and Flying Colors, Ash Soan’s second guest tuition page, a competition to win VK Drums goodies, plus all our usual reviews, expert tutorial pages and much, much more!
