Linux distribution
Slackel 7.5
Mayank Sharma finds this distribution combines Slackware and USB distros with two use-cases: older computers and portable installations.
IN BRIEF
Slackel uses software from Slackware’s actively churned -current branch, and combines them with the user-friendly tools from the Salix project (which is based on Slackware Stable that was last released in 2016) to create a best-of-bothworld’s distro.
SPECS
CPU: Pentium 2 and higher
Memory: 512MB or at least 1GB for programs such as LibreOffice and Firefox
HDD: 15GB
Build: Both 32-and 64-bit
There are several reasons why Slackware, the oldest, actively developed distro, still has a huge user and install base. However, user-friendliness isn’t its forte, which has given birth to distros like Salix that produce custom tools and scripts to tame Slackware and make it usable for the desktop user. Slackel helps bring those tools to the actively developed Slackware -current branch.
