TAKE OUT THE TRASH
Jon Masters has been involved with Linux for more than 22 years.
A debate has started concerning the relative merits of retaining support for ReiserFS in Linux. This was originally introduced into version 2.4.1 of Linux and its claim to fame at the time was that it was the first “journalling” filesystem included upstream. A journalled filesystem is designed carefully to survive an unclean shutdown (such as power failure) and to recover its state without the user having to run a special command like fsck on each boot. These days, nearly all Linux filesystems are journalled and have countless other features to boot.
