We generally prefer Thunderbolt for its compatibility and superior performance, and OWC’s superb Envoy Pro SX stands out in speed, build quality and ruggedness. Sadly it’s also by far the most expensive, and would be wasted if used just to plod through making Time Machine backups. But if your needs include working with large media files, we recommend it without reservation.
