THE FINDER IS such a core component of macOS, used by everyone every day, that we often take it for granted. Yet there are a lot of ways you can customize it to perfectly suit your needs, adding extra features or removing those you don’t need to create a much more streamlined and tailored Mac experience.
In macOS Big Sur nearly every element of the Finder can be customized, from the folders and shortcuts in the sidebar and the buttons in the toolbar to the size of the icons and text displayed with each file. You can set your preferences to apply to a single folder or every folder you subsequently browse, based on your needs. You can even add a background picture if you like.
