“WHEN WE PUT out our first record in 1984, Butthole Surfers’ drummer King Coffey worked in a record store, I think, and he was one of our first big fans. So, in November 1986 they were doing shows in Dallas and Austin, and they asked us to open for them. We still didn’t know much about them, but then they played, and it was, ‘Oh my God, this is like our freaky older brothers here!’
