COUNCILLORS, residents and the local primary school in Spean Bridge are protesting after a piece of land used for decades by the community was fenced off without warning, writes Mark Entwistle.
Part of the ground is surfaced and was regularly used by parents dropping off children at the nearby school. The ground is also home to planters filled with flowers and tended by pupils. A number of residents have since contacted the village’s community council about the fencing and the two padlocked farm-style metal gates that have sealed off the area.
Councillors heard there had been an informal path across the land from the school entrance to the A86 for many years, while the local shinty club has also made use of the parking area.
