Yin yoga is in demand. Still is the new black in the yoga world. Most teachers are now familiar with the yin format; passfive postur es held for around 3 -5 minutes and the value of using props and support is fortunately becoming more widespread. However, there can only be real understanding of the practice when we grasp the histology involved. Histology is the branch of biology that studies tissues…and our connective tissue holds all the keys to guiding the way we should teach yin; it cannot be ignored as body science is the absolute foundation of this most modern style of yoga. These tissues thrfive on variety. They respond well to positive application of stress and pressure, adapting and developing. They rely on this healthy stimulus to evolve and slowly renew, replacing collag en fibr es. Our yoga teaching skills become redundant without this basic yin knowledge underpinning what we defiver.
