After a recruiter suggested she might need to take a pay cut if she wanted to continue to work flexibly, she started to consider creating professional opportunities for herself rather than trying to find something that fit with family life. “My background was very corporate,” she says. “I worked in corporate sustainability and did many years with Sainsbury’s looking at packing materials, bags for life and supply chain. I then moved overseas to Singapore, which was brilliant. I spent time working with growers and manufacturers before returning to the UK and had my third child.” After returning to the UK, Nancy found it increasingly difficult working in Central London and find suitable roles.
