Modelling the Luftwaffe 1935 - 1945. Part 1
The Luftwaffe, between 1935 and 1945 has always been a popular choice amongst modellers and model manufactures. In fact, we are spoilt for choice in most of the major scales, to the extent that we have a massive choice in quality and price for some of the more popular types like the Messerschmitt Bf 109 and the Focke Wulf Fw 190. But what makes it such a popular choice?
There are two theories, and the first is historical. It is a fact that wars force technological innovation and this has been particularly true of aviation. During the course of the First World War, we went from very basic airframes like the Fe.2B Biplane and Taube Monoplane, which were aimed at the spotting role, however, by the end of the War we had effective fighters like the Sopwith Snipe and Fokker D.VII and heavy bombers like the Handley Page O/400 and Gotha G.V and more effective reconnaissance and maritime patrol aircraft. This is the fourth book in the Aviation In Scale series, we take a look at some of the aircraft of the Luftwaffe, and how to build them in scale.
