Of course, no team boasts a history quite like theirs. So when the Habs brought 11 former captains out to center ice at the Bell Centre during a pregame ceremony on Dec. 4 to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the franchise, they showcased some of the game’s all-time greats, including Chris Chelios, Yvan Cournoyer, Saku Koivu, and Bob Gainey.

But as joyous as the celebration was, everyone was thinking about the one captain who wasn’t there.
